In the first weeks of life, fawns are often weaned by their mothers in tall grass. There they hide and are protected against predators by the natural camouflage of their
coat and the lack of their own scent. However, the early summer birthing season is also the time of the first grass harvest, and the lack of escape behavior can quickly become the fawns' undoing.
The problem is that farmers cannot see into the tall grass when mowing, and thus fawns are not detected.

In South Tyrol, too, countless fawns are severely mutilated by the mowing machines every year and die in a cruel way.

For the aerial survey of the fields, the flights are planned with our 3D flight planning and then flown automatically. Together with the company Alpsvision, numerous test flights were carried out and the method refined. We were also already able to find fawns.
